Early Access is live

1666: Amsterdam entered Early Access on August 25, 2026 on PC. Panache’s Steam news post says the game is playable now. The store listing uses the same date and no longer marks the title as coming soon.

Is August 25 the full 1.0 launch?

No. It is the start of Early Access, not the finished 1.0 release. In the studio’s Early Access FAQ, Panache expects the path to completion to take about one year, with major updates that add story hours and more Originals. A calendar date for 1.0 should not be invented until Panache publishes one.

What is in the current build?

At the start of Early Access, Panache said the game includes the first piece of the campaign, expected to take about 15 hours. The full version is planned as a larger handcrafted world spanning multiple boroughs. Those later boroughs are not in this launch slice.

Day-two crash hotfix

On August 27, 2026 Panache posted Crash Fixes: a crash in the Codex tutorial section, and a crash that sometimes occurred after combat. If you hit either of those, update the Steam install before assuming the live build is still unpatched.

Price and extras (rechecked September 14, 2026)

Steam now lists the base game at $29.99 USD with no active discount. During launch week it sold at $26.99 (−10%); that introductory offer has ended. Panache has said EA pricing is meant to start lower and rise toward completion, so expect the price to move again before 1.0.

A separate 1666: Amsterdam Original Soundtrack by Jorane is on sale, and the Early Access + soundtrack bundle was listed at 10% off (Steam post, August 28). Treat all prices as a dated snapshot.

Soundtrack streaming plan (official, August 28)

In The Midnight Chronicle issue #06 Panache explained how the soundtrack reaches streaming services: songs already in Early Access unlock first, and the rest unlock progressively with each game update — all the way to 1.0. Buying the soundtrack now gives the complete set immediately instead of waiting on that rollout.

Patch status (checked September 16, 2026)

The newest official patch is Update 0.2.2 (September 30, 2026), which the studio describes as over 200 fixes. Player-facing changes: a God Mode in the accessibility menu so you can push the story without combat, new camera and UI visibility options (camera auto-lock, enemy health bars and Bateraze jump prompts can each be switched off), faster responses for dodging and drinking potions, the repeated enemy-introduction cinematic now plays only on the first wave, and less zoom during combat. It follows Update 0.2.1 (September 15, 2026) — Quick Start, a Main Menu option that unlocks once you have reached Esbat 1 and starts a new game on the morning of Esbat 1 with a Bateratze and a small inventory already chosen. Before that, the last patch post was Crash Fixes from August 27; no launch-window balance patch or content update appears in the 20 most recent Steam news items. If that changes, this page gets a new date rather than a silent edit.

The free Prologue is still not the full game

The free Prologue remains a roughly 30-minute story setup. Judge length, combat and investigation from the Early Access campaign piece, not only from the Prologue.
